The NAMDR Mission
The mission of the National Association of Medical Device Representatives (NAMDR) is to elevate Healthcare Certified Industry Representatives (HCIR™) and Medical Device Representatives (MDR™) to the status of a true certified profession. This mission begins with a commitment to patient-focused care, prioritizing patient safety above all else. NAMDR advocates for the acceptance of a Patients before Profits™ pledge, emphasizing that patient safety is paramount in surgical tray management™ and during surgical procedures.

The Role of both the HCIR™ and MDR™
Healthcare Certified Industry Representatives (HCIR™) are non- hospital employees that need to access a healthcare organization. Access to the Healthcare facility is allowed through Vendor Credentialing In 1 of 3 areas per the ANSI/NEMA SC 1-2020 American Standard for Supplier Credentialing in healthcare.
Access Tier 1 – area’s where no instruction or permission is needed
Access Tier 2 – areas where Healthcare provider permission is required
Access Tier 3 – sterile or restricted areas where non-employee access is allowed
HCIR™ can be defined as one of the following:
-
Clinical Education Specialist
-
Home Care Provider
-

-

-

-
Bio-Medical Technician
-

MDR™
The Medical Device Representative (MDR™) operates as an external associate, not affiliated with hospital staff. An MDR™ may serve as a direct employee of a medical device company or as a distributor (contractor). While distributors can represent multiple medical device companies, a direct employee is typically aligned with just one company. A current challenge is the emergence of direct company employees who also act as distributors for various other companies.

The MDR™ plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe movement and setup of surgical trays for surgery. Despite their integral role, hospital vendor credentialing alone is insufficient in addressing patient safety concerns as educational requirements for surgical tray management™ and surgical attendants are not addressed. A MDR™ will setup and Addend Surgery.

Today there are no standards, guidelines or laws for how a MDR™ is to work within a healthcare facility.

MDR™ Certification
NAMDR exclusively recognizes ANAB accredited certificates issued by the National Board of Certified Medical Device Representatives and licensed approved partners for Certification testing. This certification process ensures adherence to rigorous standards and guidelines aimed at enhancing patient safety.
